T-Shirt Quilts
Do you have a drawer full of t-shirts that you've collected throughout the years that are not being worn, but you can't part with them? Let us make them into a treasured quilt for you.QJ Designs specializes in creating celebration quilts. Using your clothing such as favorite t-shirts, sweatshirts, sports jerseys, shirts, ties, hats, backpacks and other garments and textiles, we can make a quilt that will be treasured for years to come.
Celebrate milestones, achievements or special occasions such as a birth, childhood, birthday, prom, graduation, athletics, baptism, wedding, anniversary, or the life of a loved one.
T-shirt quilts can be made from 9 shirts (Lap size) - up to 49 (King size) with variations in between. There are many options to make this quilt unique and your own.
Basic Layout
For the basic layout, the t-shirt blocks will be arranged in a grid pattern with batting, and backing. The layers will be sewn together (quilted) and the edges finished. You choose the binding color for the finished edges, backing color and the batting type.Sashing Layout
The sashing layout is similar to the basic layout with additional fabric strips or sashing sewn between the blocks.Custom Layout
For the custom layout, each shirt is cut individually depending on the size of the design on the shirt. For this layout, many more shirts could be used in a smaller amount of space. They are arranged to fit together in a manner like a puzzle for an overall pleasing design.Quilt Sizes

Options
- Accent Color - For the Sashing or Custom layouts, you may choose the color of the fabric between the blocks. For the Basic Layout, the accent color will be chosen for the finishing edge of the quilt. Other clothing fabrics can be used for this (i.e., flannel lounge pants, etc.) for an additional fee.
- Batting - Polyester batting gives a soft, slightly lofty look, almost like a thin bedspread. Cotton batting is stiffer, but softens up as washed. Cotton batting is a good choice if the quilt will be hung on a wall as it gives more stability. Fleece gives a cozy feel.
- Backing Choice - Cotton is the traditional backing for a quilt and can be selected for either polyester or cotton batting. Flannel has a different feel and can be used for either polyester or cotton batting. If fleece batting is chosen, it doubles as both the batting and backing. Select the color for the backing as well.
- Quilting Design - The quilt layers can be sewn together with either a straight line grid or an all over meandering line. A more specialized quilting can be requested at an additional charge.
